5 Talking Points from the weekend

So... what happened during the weekend?

1. Manchester City powerhouses dominate

Aguero (6)was in fine form, as Chelsea's were simply outclassed, to the point that Mourinho supposedly brought Terry off for 'tactical reasons'. Aguero could have scored more, but the goals came from his colleagues instead. Silva netted two assists for 9 points, bringing the question of whether it's worth doubling up for future fantasy line ups. If you already have them, congratulations!

The rest of the powerhouses failed to gain any points of note. Sanchez oozed class but his assist for Crystal Palace's own goal was not given for the Stadium Astro game. Rooney (2), Hazard (0) and Costa (2) were all off their game, although you could argue their respective teams weren't helping either.

Meanwhile, Yaya Toure (4) appears to have put last season's stink behind him as he recorded an assist to add to his two goal tally from the weekend. On the other hand, Sterling seems content to remain out of the spotlight, so it might be a while before we seem some solid returns from him.

2. Are we overestimating Southampton?

Everton bamboozled Southampton and as a team that holds Koeman as manager, I'm not a happy camper. Without Schneiderlin in the middle they appear to be struggling both in defense as well as linking up into the attack (Clasie could be the solution provided he returns from injury). Stekelenberg is no Foster either.

Southampton still have arguably great fixtures coming up (Watford, Norwich, West Brom) but teams will think twice about doubling up on their players. I have Mane but he has flattered to deceive.

3. Leceister tear it up

It's funny looking at the table and seeing Manchester City followed closely by Leicester at the top but that's what it is, keeping in mind it's still early days. Mahrez (7) and Albrighton (5) and were once again in outstanding form as they made light of theit travel issues from last season with a solid win over the Hammers.

Their next fixtures are reasonably good (Spurs, Villa, Bournemouth and Stoke), and although Spurs are up next, Leicester are at home and have some nice momentum going. Picking one of the above is relatively low risk, especially considering they are 1st and 3rd in total fantasy points right now.

4. Manchester United impotent attack

Two 1-0s in a row, and one wonders if Manchester United are the new Stoke (sorry fans on both teams). MU fans will be happy to take the wins as they are but fantasy football players are seething, after 1 own goal and 1 goal by someone who might not even be around come September. Fancy a CS? (although you couldn't tell there was a CS looking at Darmian's score (2).

LVG's ongoing experiments with his front line makes it very hard to predict where the goals (or goal) are/is coming from, and for that I'd advise everyone to stay away from their attack until there's some stability. Even though Mata (6) again performed despite being deployed as a (slow) winger, until he gets his preferred position (behind Rooney) I'm staying away...

and finally...

5. Should we pick just about anyone playing against Sunderland?

Conceding 7 goals so far, home and away, they next play Swansea at the Stadium of Light. Swansea scored two against Newcastle at home, and two goals away. At Chelsea. It's hard to think of a reason not to jump onto the bullying bandwagon, especially with Montero (6), Sigurdsson (3), Gomis (6)  and even Shelvey (6) in fine form. So pick one, have fun.

That's it for now, good luck to those who have players for tonight's match. I have Firmino (might not start) and Benteke. In our next article, we'll take a look at the Euro Scout feature unique to the MyEG Stadium Astro game.

Which players do you think are going to be the steals this year? ie cheap price but explosive returns.

Tough one but I think Bojan of Stoke (8.7) could finally fulfill his potential. I think we're all aware of Mahrez and Albrighton now but another interesting pick is their teammate Okazaki (5.9). He's a striker, but listed as a midfielder in this game. I also think that Bournemouth players like Wilson and Ritchie will soon adapt to the Premier League, hopefully leading to good fantasy returns.
