Being a GM...

The last time I was a Game Master for RPGs was in Australia, final year, er... 1999. I ran Cyberpunk for a core group for 5 months. I was also involved in a few others that year, PCing in Mechwarrior, Runequest and the old DC Heroes.

Gming = Creation. Something I love doing, and I sometimes go overboard a bit I admit. But storytelling (as Ars Magica puts it) is really fun!

Currently preparing for Star Wars sessions, am looking at running it on Saturdays 4-7pm maybe? Seems all the other slots are filled up.. Yes it's verry busy at the shop these days... Or maybe Friday nights are better, but I'll have to check with Swedish first, our Greedo Fan Club president mwa ha ha!

Anyway, have to advertise it first, but probably only 5-6 players. I figured I can't go more can't handle more! Most likely during the Rise of the Empire era...

Back..

Couldn't access my blog the last coupla days. Thought it decided to die on me, like my pal's. Fortunately, it's still alive and kicking.

Time to indulge in some self-pity. My pals're at Section 14, playing Dawn of War. Wish I was with them. Despite my lack of time spent on the game compared to the rest, I really want to do well. Need to improve on awareness (that's a big one!) and peripheral vision (even worse). Also need to experiment on the units I haven't tried yet like the Termies. Was so desperate to play I even tried installing DoW on my home comp despite my RAM limitations only to find I also had another: NOT ENOUGH FREAKING SPACE!!! Slowly deleting off some of my dad's unused stuff, hope he doesn't notice... heh... Hang on a sec, just thought of something...

Funny...

Browsing through some of my links yesterday and found that one of my friend's blogs had exactly the same sentence as that in my previous entry!

RAW had some amusing, interesting and sick moments yesterday. Think there'll be a lot of backlashing out of this one... Will leave commentary in the WGS Forums though, not here...

Having more and more unusual dreams, with recurring people featuring prominently in them. Guess I think about some people way too much...

Never really told her how much I love her smile, while the opportunity was there... It might still be there...

It gets better...

The last two days have been good in multiple ways!

Am currently in the finals stages of the shop's Boardalympics comp. Can't remember the silvers and bronzes but at this point in terms of gold it's:

Rob, Andy: 3 gold each
Bryan, Me: 2 gold each

It's getting a bit cutthroat now with lots of trashtalking, though the politicking was a bit less than the Group of Death's ! Four games to go, but it's under pause now coz Rob's kinda busy for the next two weeks. I'm cool with that need a bit of a breather anyway pheww!

And the sun rises with War on the horizon...

Yesterday was a good day!

She was lovely yesterday!

Anyway, my parents arrived yesterday, though their flight got delayed for a bit. Seemed like they had a good trip to China. Too bad I didn't have money to go, but then again, our divergent interests would create entirely different motives and destinations.

The phone bill also arrived yesterday, and my dad, being the meticulous person he is, can't help but question certain phone calls I made in the previous month of questionable timing and even more questionable length! I just shrugged them off by telling him I'll pay for it, but no guarantees it won't happen again in the near future! ha ha!
Could Angelina Jolie be any HOTTER???!! (Mr. and Mrs. Smith trailer, go watch!)

Now then...

Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith

(Spoiler alert!! You might want to stop reading if you don't want to find out stuff!)

This time Lucas did NOT disappoint, although I still wish Anakin had cut off Jar Jar's head. My only problem is that I felt that it the storyline was rushed, with too much stuff in too little time. Anakin's conversion to the dark side could have taken a bit more time, but no...

I became a bit of a wuss, cause I actually cried during the massacre of the Jedi... betrayed by the Senate, hunted down by Anakin and the clone troopers.

Aayla Secura
Once again, the dialogue needed some work here and there, as they did not seem to convey the full passion and personality of the characters. But overall, I was happy, yet sad at the same time. It's over...
For now anyway...

Changing the rules...

One of my favourite shows of all time has been Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Although I never really did watch it on a regular basis. I loved it for its extremely rich characterisation as well as the overall plot development.

Arguably some of the episodes were really little more than slash-em-ups, but each episode also told you a bit more about some of the characters, their desires, their hopes, their fears.

Everything that happens and doesn't happen in other series, happens here.

My favourite character is Willow, innocent genius-turned-lesbian witch-turned evil sorceress and back.

Here's one of her incarnations:

Love it!

Flip flop!

Some people should come equipped with standard issue trampolines. I never cease to be both amazed and bewildered...

Flip flop!

Had some interesting incidents in the past few days. I can't say whether they're good or bad, but suffice to say they may affect me significantly in time to come. A bit screwed up in the head so I can't really think clearly right now. Involves a few people in my life...

Flip flop!

Had lots of Puerto Rico game play these past few days. I think I pretty much lost all of them save one which I used a factory strategy without the factory. Still, I kinda like experimenting right now with all the possible strategies, especially when I don't really perform well with them...

Flip flop!

Hmm... there's one person whom I miss right now...

Later...

Blogging challenges

Seems like my home comp does everything it can to stop me from blogging. Ironically I'm using it NOW... (Good com... good com...)

Monitor flickering, failure to log in to blogspot, failure to dial in (No streamyx :() and even IE failure...!

Still everything seems okay now...

Parents are currently at the Forbidden City in China I think, if I remember the itinerary correctly. As such, I have full use of vehicles woo hoo! Have to alternate though make sure both cars are okay...

Hmm...

I want to do people descriptions but I'm trying to decide whom to go with first...

Lesseee... current people in mind are Kwok, Norman, Shaz and Ahmad...

Excuse me while I roll a 4-sided dice...

Weird dreams...

Okay...

I totally forgot that my earlier post was empty! Thanks Ruud...

Anyway, I was in a car with Wolf, Bryan and a third person not sure exactly who it was though. Wolf was driving, and we were on a road trip to Jakarta. (Hey, it's a dream, it's not supposed to make sense!) All throughout the journey, I'm being hammered with all these personal questions and I'm feeling fairly uncomfortable.

So we stop at this Mall, except that Wolf doesn't park but instead goes right through the main doors of the Mall. 100s of shoppers stare as Wolf casually drives through. He stops in the centre of the mall, we get out of the car, and just as casually Wolf hands his keys over to a security officer, leaving the car right there (and nope, it wasn't a car show either!)

There's supposed to be more, but for the love of God, I can't REMEMBER!!!

Dawn of War…

Had 8 hours (Read: Eight!) hours of Dawn of War, the RTS Sunday to Monday. ! It’s actually quite nice to be playing RTSes again. I confess when it first came out, I never really got into it, mainly coz the Amcorp Mall comps weren’t fast enough, But at the Ccafe near Triona’s house, it’s fast enough to make a great playing experience.

Having said that, I am WAY behind everyone in terms of knowledge and experience, so there’s lots I need to catch up on. Zach has been incredibly patient with me, despite my 101 screw-ups. Given time, I’m sure I can improve. I wish there was some database online where I can read what each unit does and what works best against what. But, as Triona says, the best way to learn is ta play…

Now I just need to hunt for a ccafe in Bangi that has Dawn of War, which ain’t gonna be easy methinks, will start hunting tomorrow.

Note: Just realised my gaming universe knowledge slowly expanding, my latest being 40K and Warmachine. Don’t know if I’ll ever get into the tabletop though, certainly not now with my tight cashflow…!

The engagement!

My dearest friend from Indonesia, Fina Khairaty, as of today, is now, happily engaged to her future husband-to-be, Dave.

Congratulations to the both of you!

If all goes well, I should be able to attend the wedding.

....

And I believe I can finally let go...

A bit ironic though...

God bless you both :D

Interlude

I am ... um... let me find words......

A mixture of relief, joy, and love in one bundle...

I should be able to sleep just a bit more better now...

It's a good feeling :D

You will never walk alone...

Meant in multiple ways to certain people, and fitting for what happened this morning....

That's right folks, LIVERPOOL are through to this year's Champions League finals! To Joseph, Loco, and Ben, I salute you.

Funny how I've taken up a much more serious interest in football nowadays. Heck, truth be told, I don't even know who last year's Champions League champions are!

Of course, Liverpool's goal will be a subject of controversy for the next few days but results are all that matter now. And Carragher is one overworked defender ha ha...

The recent idea...

I found a mirror in a hospital on Sunday. It was glisteningly clear, in sharp contrast to the seemingly gloomy atmosphere of the surrounding area.
Anything passing the front of the mirror is replicated, duplicated, imitated, reflected, however you call it, in the mirror itself. One wonders how much memory is contained within. The mirrors of memory.

So if you had a mirror that contained all its memories within, what would happen if the mirror were to break.. ?
Ideas, ideas, though of course such themes doubtless have been explored, but I might use it yet in some original way…

One new acquaintance

When I met, Trish on Sunday in the hospital, she was such a contrast in comparison to the rest of the hospital. Her cheerful, full of life attitude displayed that day was delightful to see.
Now I don’t know her very well at all, but it’s good to see that she had not let her current condition affect her that tiin the hospital, she was such a contrast in comparison to the rest of the hospital. Her cheerful, full of life attitude displayed that day was delightful to see.
Now I don’t know her very well at all, but it’s good to see that she had not let her current condition affect her that tieminded me of when I had to spend time in a hospital myself. I wasn’t there that long, but I could feel the effects of being stuck in a hospital bed with hardly much to do except read and watch tv. Inactivity can drive one buggy, as it did me.

Good luck Trish, Triona and their family, hope everything turns out well…
